One day’s half-friend

The day I was born I found myself sitting on the cheeks of a girl. I saw around like an innocent infant, noticing each and every detail around me. Beside me, there was a mountain like nose. Below me, I could see the soft lips of the girl and behind me, there were beautiful closed eyes of the girl. It was the time of night and she was sleeping. I thought not to disturb her as she looked too cute while sleeping.

Looking around, at her, I started liking her. I know it was too fast but she was appealing to me to the greatest extent. I sat there for a long time and after some, I got to know I couldn’t move, I was fixed to the skin! So I stared around and waited for the morning.

Finally, it was 6 am, she woke. As a part of her routine, she went to the washroom and saw herself in the mirror.

I waved at her and said, “Hello, good morning!”

She was in a complete shock so she shouted, “OH NO! I GOT A PIMPLE!” So from that moment, I got to know that creatures like me were called ‘pimples’. The shock was so tremendous that she didn’t listen to my greetings.

As she couldn’t believe, she washed her face again and rechecked herself in the mirror. I was there and there, no effect.

I asked her, “Am I to be known as pimple?”

She got a further shock and she shot me with numerous questions, “How did you come? How come you could speak? What are you doing on my face? What the hell is happening with me?”

I replied, “Look, I am newly born and myself sitting on cheeks... I don’t know what I am doing here. I can’t answer your questions.

Disappointed she said, “Why it only happens with me?”

When she got upset I couldn’t handle it. So I cracked some jokes like; “Did you which is most hated fish?”, “Selfish!”

She was like, “Ha, Ha, Ha a very pathetic joke.”

To cheer her up, I tried to compliment her, “You actually look soo cute.”

She said, “You are spoiling my cuteness then.”
I felt bad, ‘What have I done that girl is hating me?’ These thoughts started irritating me. But I didn’t mind and went on with my efforts to cheer her up.

I again complimented her again but this time in a better way, and I expressed that I did actually like her. Her expressions changed a little. Then she shared, “Really? I was always considered as a nerd and no one gave a damn to me. No one likes me. You are the first one to say that!”

But she was still disappointed that she got her first pimple. After a while, she explored that she was getting late for the college hence she got ready as fast as she could. She went into her dining room for having breakfast.

Every family member of the girl living in the small house pointed at me and came near the girl and asked the same question repeatedly, “How did this happen?”

The girl said to me while having her breakfast on the dining table, “You got attention more than ever in my life at the very first day itself!” So I replied, “I am damn handsome that nobody can’t resist looking at me!” She smiled sarcastically and continued with her breakfast.

When we came out of the house, that was the first time was seeing the outer world. Huge trees were around and birds were chirping. It was cloudy and the light breeze was making weather more awesome. Sitting on the girl I was traveling the world and this experience was extremely pleasing.

On the way to the college of the girl’s scooter, I saw many things in the human world. Other people, cars, Buildings, Shops, Food, Roads, Bikes and much more… Whatever I didn’t know I asked the girl ‘What was that thing?’. She got irritated by my frequent questions and didn’t reply to most of the questions.

Finally, after 20 minutes of the ride, we reached college. It was a good looking campus with trees all around. Many students were having a good time in the garden, some students were playing football in the nearby ground, some were running as they were late for their lectures. It was a huge 4-storeyed building spread in a vast area.

I asked her, “Why are we here? What to do here?”

This time being polite she replied, “We are in college, and I come here for studying so that I can create a good career. A good career means a good life. Now can you please stop speaking or else I will be considered as mad”

I exclaimed, “What a complicated life you humans have! You have to do so much to get a good life. And here look at me I have done nothing still having a great time seeing the world sitting at your face.”

I traveled the whole college sitting on her face. I attended the lectures of the professors with the girl and learned many subjects.

When the girl met her colleagues in the canteen, they saw her and screamed in utter shock, “ALISHA YOU GOT A PIMPLE!!!” that was how I got to know that her name is Alisha.

Some of her colleagues were good and polite and some were MURDERERS. They suggested Alisha various ways to kill me. By using a soap or a facewash, by squeezing me at full extent, by putting neem-turmeric paste were some of the ways to murder me.

The day went on, I was slapped, touched abruptly, squeezed a lot of times, scratched but there was no effect on me of all these actions. I was too stubborn to leave her.

When I looked around, I was shocked that people hate me so much although I knew that I was somehow good for the skin. Creatures like me who are called Pimples, provide an anti-aging and long-lasting character to the skin. Pimples signify the presence of telomeres which signifies that the human will live long.

I shared the same thing with Alisha when we were returning towards the parking, she replied, “It isn’t your fault at all. Today’s society just watches what is shown to them. No one wants a scar on his face, if they have they wouldn’t able to show the ‘physical beauty’ to others. Each person is starving for appreciation from others and creatures like you hamper that. Everyone is bothered about how they look. Nobody knows that the physical beauty may fade away with time but the inner beauty remains the same irrespective of the time.”

She continued, “You are soul to be loved. In one this whole one day, I may have done whatever with you, you were still polite and cheerful towards me. That shows that you have a really big heart.” She was absolutely right. I got to know very well why I was hated by so many people. I can’t change people’s mindset, so I accepted it and moved on.

Then it was time to return from college. Red evening sky was extremely pleasing to the eyes. Citylights was fascinating to me and I was having a satisfying feeling. Having a good conversation with Alisha on various topics, riding with her on her scooter was memorable.

“Evening feels so satisfying, isn’t it?” I asked.

“Yeah, it does. It is my most favorite part of the day. The weather gets cooler and relaxing. Best moments to enjoy life are mostly in the evening time, she replied.

“Right now I am enjoying one of the best moments of my life with you,'' I said.

She didn’t reply but her smile conveyed everything.
As the conversation is the key to any relationship, our emotional bond was growing stronger and stronger. But our physical bond was getting weaker as I was aging.

Time went on, evening walked away and darkness of night faded in. As per her daily routine, after having her dinner, Alisha sat on the bed and used her mobile. She was scrolling the feed of her social networking site and introducing me to her friends. She shared some jokes and laughed a lot. Slowly Alisha went to sleep and this how her day ended.

Growth, glory, and decay are three stages of life and I was in the last stage. I was being pulled down from where I came, my soil, skin. Thoughts and memories of my life were rewinding in front of my eyes. I was having a plethora of different kinds of thoughts. I was feeling bad to leave Alisha but at the same time, I was feeling good that from tomorrow there would be no hindrance in her overwhelming cuteness.

I popped in this world with nothing and I am sinking in soil taking nothing except some mixed feelings.
